75% of funds raised will promote research by the team into the causes and methods of treatment of cleft lip and palate and related conditions.

25% will be used to support the overseas activities of the team in countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Uganda and Ghana.

• Which surgical techniques minimise the effect on growth of the upper jaw?
• How do the palate muscles function during speech?
• Can we improve the results of secondary surgery for speech?
• Can we improve breathing and feeding for babies with Pierre Robin Sequence?
• Can we improve speech in patients with poor palate function but without actual cleft palates
• Can we use 3D imaging to help predict underlying conditions?
• Can we identify which genes have a role in clefting?
